Corporal Andre Bastian, narrator, “The Commandant’s Own” U.S. Marine Drum & Bugle Corps, stands at the position of attention as the National and Marine Corps Colors are presented during the traditional Marine Corps birthday ceremony at the Washington Hilton, Washington D.C., Nov. 18, 2017. By tradition, the first piece of cake is given to the guest of honor and the second piece is given to oldest Marine present, which then passes it off to the youngest Marine which symbolizes the passing of knowledge and tradition to the newer generation of Marines.
