Lieutenant Colonel Patrick McConnell is from Denver, CO. He enlisted in Illinois in 2003 and served as an 0311 and 8152 as part of the Marine Security Company. In May 2011 he graduates from the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD. In June 2011, he reported to the Basic School, Quantico, VA and graduated with Fox Company Basic Officer Course 6-11. Upon completing Infantry Officer Course 3-12, he was assigned the 0302 MOS and reported to 2d Battalion, 6th Marines in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Lieutenant Colonel McConnell served as the platoon commander of the 81mm Mortar Platoon, Weapons Company and deployed as part of the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa Japan from July 2013 to February 2014. Upon returning from deployment, Lieutenant Colonel McConnell was moved to 3d Battalion, 6th Marines and served as the Executive Officer, Headquarters and Service Company from March 2014 to August 2015. During this time, he deployed as part of Battalion Landing Team 3/6 in support of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
In September 2015, Lieutenant Colonel McConnell reported to Marine Barracks, Washington D.C. There he served as a platoon and Company Commander, Company A from September 2015 to November 2017. Following his Company Command, he served as the Presidential Support Program Manager and Executive Officer, Guard Company from November 2017 to June 2018.
Lieutenant Colonel McConnell was selected to attend Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA beginning July 2018 and graduated in May 2019. Upon graduation, he reported to 3d Battalion, 4th Marines in Twentynine Palms, CA.
While with 3d Battalion 4th Marines, Lieutenant Colonel McConnell served as the Lima Company Commander May - December 2019 and Weapons Company Commander from January 2020 to May 2021 deploying in support of the 31st MEU. Lieutenant Colonel McConnell then became the Operations Officer from May 2021 to May 2023, deploying as part of the Unit Deployment Program 23.1.
In May of 2023, Lieutenant Colonel McConnell executed orders to Recruiting Station Pittsburgh remaining there until the unit's directed closure in May of 2024.
From June 2024 to June 2026, Lieutenant Colonel McConnell served as the Commanding Officer, Recruiting Station Baltimore, 1st Marine Corps District. He was promoted (frocked) to his current rank on 26 June 2026 and assumed the duties of Executive Officer, Marine Barracks Washington.
Lieutenant Colonel McConnell's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (with one gold star) and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with two gold stars).
