From the South: Take I-95 North to I-395 North. Follow I-395 North until you cross the Potomac River and enter Washington DC. After crossing the river, watch for and follow signs for I-295 South. Do not take the I-395 North exit into the 3rd Street tunnel. Follow I-295 and watch for the 6th Street Southeast/Navy Yard exit. Move to the right hand lane and take the 6th St. SE exit. this will put you on Virginia Avenue which parallels the freeway. Watch for signs directing traffic into the left lane for reserved parking at Marine Barracks. Turn left at 8th Street.
From the North: Take I-95 South to I-495 South (Northern Virginia). Then, George Washington Parkway to I-395 North. After crossing the river, watch for and follow signs for I-295 South. Do not take the I-395 North exit into the 3rd Street tunnel. Follow I-295 and watch for the 6th Street Southeast exit. Move to the right hand lane and take the 6th St. SE exit. this will put you on Virginia Avenue which parallels the freeway.
