Sergeant Major Tagliere is from Rome, New York. He graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1992, and began recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC in October 1992. Following recruit training, Sergeant Major Tagliere was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class and received orders to Camp Lejeune, NC for Marine Combat Training (MCT). Upon completion of MCT, he began his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) entry-level training at Naval Air Station Memphis, TN and Lemoore, CA. Once complete, Sergeant Major Tagliere was awarded the MOS 6317, designating him as an F/A-18 Organizational Level Communication, Navigation, Radar and Weapon Systems Avionics Technician.
Sergeant Major Tagliere reported to Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Beaufort, SC, Marine Aircraft Group 31 (MAG-31) in January 1994 as an Avionics Technician. Upon arrival he was initially assigned to the Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 31 (MALS-31) Stingers, and in March 1994 he was reassigned to the Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 451 (VMFA-451) Warlords. Sergeant Major Tagliere was promoted to corporal in December 1995 and was then meritoriously promoted to sergeant in August 1996. During his tour with the Warlords, Sergeant Major Tagliere held the billets of crew supervisor, Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, and Collateral Duty Inspector, and he completed two Western Pacific deployments with the squadron. Sergeant Major Tagliere transferred within MAG-31 to the VMFA-115 Silver Eagles in September 1996 as an Avionics Technician. He completed one Western Pacific deployment with the Silver Eagles and held the billets of shop Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Collateral Duty Inspector and Quality Assurance Representative.
In August 1998, Sergeant Major Tagliere received orders to Instructor Duty at Marine Aviation Training Support Group 21 (MATSG-21), Aviation Maintenance Squadron 2 (AMS-2) in Pensacola, FL. While at MATSG-21, he served as an Avionics Instructor at the Naval Aviation Technical Training Center. In May 1999, shortly after earning his instructor certifications, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant. In June 2000, Sergeant Major Tagliere was selected as the Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of the Leadership Education And Development (LEAD) program. He also served as Chief Instructor for the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program satellite school located in Pensacola.
Sergeant Major Tagliere was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in July 2002, and received orders to Drill Instructor Duty at MCRD Parris Island in September 2002. While at Parris Island, he held the billets of Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Series Gunnery Sergeant, Company First Sergeant, Headquarters Operations Chief, and Headquarters Operations Officer.
Sergeant Major Tagliere received orders to the VMFA(AW)-332 Moonlighters at MCAS Beaufort, SC in March 2006. He held the billets of Squadron Gunnery Sergeant, Avionics Division Chief, Avionics Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, and Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative. In March 2007, Sergeant Major Tagliere transferred within MAG-31 to the VMFA(AW)-224 Bengals where he assumed the billet of Avionics Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge. After completing his fourth Western Pacific deployment, he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant on February 1, 2008.
Upon his promotion, Sergeant Major Tagliere received orders to The Superbreed, 1st Combat Engineer Battalion (1st CEB), 1st Marine Division. During his time at 1st CEB, Sergeant Major Tagliere served as the Company First Sergeant for five of the six companies within the battalion, including: Headquarters and Service Company, Company A, Company B, Company C, and Mobility Assault Company. While serving as Company B First Sergeant, he completed a combat deployment to Afghanistan, where the company provided Combat Engineer support for Regimental Combat Team-2 and Regimental Combat Team-7, in the Regional Command Southwest’s area of operations.
In June 2011, Sergeant Major Tagliere reported to Marine Aviation Training Support Group 21 (MATSG-21) to serve as the Squadron First Sergeant for Aviation Maintenance Squadron 2 (AMS-2). He was selected for promotion to Sergeant Major in November 2013 and received orders back to MCAS Beaufort, SC.
Sergeant Major Tagliere reported to MCAS Beaufort, SC in April 2014, and he was appointed as the Sergeant Major for the Marine Wing Support Squadron 273 (MWSS-273) Sweathogs. In February 2015, Sergeant Major Tagliere was transferred within MAG-31 to serve as the VMFA-312 Checkerboards squadron Sergeant Major. While serving as the Checkerboards senior enlisted leader, he completed his fifth Western Pacific deployment.
In April 2017, Sergeant Major Tagliere reported to Marine Forces Reserve, Marine Air Control Group-48 (MACG-48) aboard Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois, as the Active Duty Group Inspector and Instructor Site Sergeant Major.
During March 2019, Sergeant Major Tagliere was selected to serve in his current position, and on 7 May 2019 he was appointed as the Sergeant Major of the Oldest Post of the Corps, Marine Barracks Washington, D.C.
Sergeant Major Tagliere's military decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with three gold stars in lieu 4th award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star in lieu of 2nd award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star in lieu of 2nd award, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
