"Commandant's Own" performs at NASCAR

“The Commandant’s Own,” the United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps performed the national anthem before the crowd attending NASCAR’s “Crown Royal 400” at Richmond International Speedway, May 6.The event began with an introduction of the drivers, prayer and the “Pledge of Allegiance” before the national anthem, which the NASCAR Web site called, “The best rendition of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ played at a NASCAR event in quite some time.”“It’s always a rush to play at these events because over one hundred thousand people have their eyes on your performance,” said Staff Sgt. Gregory S. Holder, baritone bugler for the D&B. “Being the musical ambassadors of the commandant makes you always want to play your best and give a good impression of the Marine Corps.”
