"Oldest Post of the Corps"
Former CMC laid to rest; Corps legend honored for service

MARINE BARRACKS WASHINGTON, Washington D.C. -- Marines from the "Corps' Oldest Post" recently took part in laying to rest former Commandant of the Marine Corps and Medal of Honor recipient, General Louis H. Wilson. 

General Wilson, one of the Corps' true heroes, died June 21 at the age of 85 at his home in the Birmingham suburb of Homewood, Ala.  He was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery July 19.

Wilson received the Medal of Honor for his service in the South Pacific during World War II.
